Since the first houses in Løkken were built in 1678, the town evolved into the main loading place for trade between Vendsyssel and South Norway, where grain, butter, and meat were exchanged for wood and iron.
The town still has large warehouses from this shipping trade, which ceased around 1900.
Løkken then became an important fishing town, the third largest on the west coast.
Around 1950, there were up to 50 boats being pulled up on the beach. The old fishing environment with a pier, boat mooring, signal mast, tar area, and rescue house (now a museum for coastal fishing) still exists today, although there are only a few fishermen left.
In the late 1800s, the first bathers arrived, and Løkken developed into a popular seaside resort.
Today, Løkken is a town with well-preserved traces of its past.
